YOUTH PROTECTION GUIDELINES and NEW LEADERS

New National BSA Guidelines for YPG and New Leaders Effective June 1, 2010

bullet

Youth Protection training is required for ALL registered volunteers (not just Direct Contact leaders).

bullet

New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before they submit an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.

bullet

Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.

Be sure that all leaders print out the certificate at the end of course.

I have been assured that once new leaders receive a membership number, that number will be linked to their name from the training and they should see that when they create their My Scouting account, but it is always good to "be prepared".   FYI- The District Commissioner (Pat) took the course (again) on September 1st to check on it.  It took 25 Minutes.  That's not too much to ask for someone who wants the program to be the best AND safest it can be for our children.
